Meal Plan: May 30, 2023

I haven't done a meal plan post since 2009. I was just cleaning up my blog and republishing old posts since I got de-platformed. After reading all of my old posts and recipes, I want to get back to baking and cooking from scratch again. It brings me so much joy and it makes my kids happier.

Meal Plan: May 30, 2023

I haven't done a meal plan post since 2009. I was just cleaning up my blog and republishing old posts since I got de-platformed.

I like the idea of doing this again. Funny because my kids are not here – they are on summer vacation with their dad.

But after reading all of my old posts and recipes, I want to get back to baking and cooking from scratch again. It brings me so much joy and it makes my kids happier.

And I think this will help me do it. And there is something very virtuous and pleasing about an orderly life.

A Regular Feature on the Blog

Also, I want to say that I really liked the simplicity of my old blog. Just posting what I think of when I thik of it. Instead of being so deliberate and always focusing on SEO (search engine optimization) and junk like that.

To me, a blog should be more like a sketchbook. Then you turn those sketches into paintings, which become books.

Anyway. I will try to do meal plans. Howver, I think I'll wait to start this officially until the fall because we are traveling in the summertime.

Summer Trip to France

I'm going to France for 3 weeks this summer, I will post the itinerary with all the meals.

I woke up this morning and decided today is the day I will buy my plane tickets. Quite miraculous, because today is the Feast Day of Saint Joan of Arc.

I'm scared to take the leap, but as Saint Jeanne said, “I am not afraid; I was born to do this.”

I hope this meal plan series gives some of you inspiration.

Also, maybe it will help some of you feel like you don't have to be so "perfect". Yes, I drink coffee every morning, and I drink wine every night. A dinner without wine is like a day without sunshine.

Meal Plan Notes

I braised a brisket last night in my VitaClay.

VitaClay

A VitaClay is similar to the Instant Pot but way better.

Instead of a slow cooker which takes 8 hours to cook a brisket, you can do it in 4 hours. They say 2 hours but for me it takes 3-4 hours.

VitaClay on Amazon

I never use my Instant Pots anymore for many reasons. This cooks better, makes the food taste better,  I plan to switch out all my old recipes on here to feature the VitaClay.

I'll also be writing a review soon talking about all the reasons I prefer the VitaClay.

Using Meat in Multiple Meals

Anyway, because I have the brisket, I'm going to plan this week's meals around that.

I also have some leftover ham from Easter that is in the freezer and I am trying to use that up as well. I've been craving quiche and risotto, so that's what's on the menu this week.

Process Notes

Oh, and normally this will be posted by Sunday.

If you see any recipes that I link to that are broken, that's because a lot of my recipes got nuked when I got cancelled. I'm still trying to fix them all.

Also, I'm a Catholic so I always need to do fish on Friday. This helps me remember.
